Humble in character, anointed, prayerful and established in integrity connotes the description of Bishop Benjamin P. Collins.

Bishop Benjamin Payne Collins is a native of Newnan, Georgia. He was educated in the following institutions: Ruth Carter High School, Talbotton, GA; Paine University, Augusta, GA and International Theological Seminary, Plymouth, FL. Bishop also received certificates for various courses taken at C. H. Mason Seminary, Atlanta, GA.


  
Bishop Collins was saved in 1970 at the Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church, Augusta, GA. He joined the Church of God in Christ in 1972 as a minister. Bishop Collins was ordained by the late Bishop J. Howard Dell in August 1974. He served as an Associate Minister at Christ Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Dell for two years. It was under this ministry that he received much of his ministerial training and leadership instructions.

Bishop Collins has founded three churches. He is presently Pastor of the Bread of Life Church of God in Christ, Savannah, Georgia.

He has progressed as a leader on the local, jurisdictional, and national levels and has served with honor, dignity, and distinction in many capacities. On the jurisdictional level, he served as president of the Department of Evangelism; Chairman, Ordination Board; President, Y.P.W.W. Department; Jurisdictional Secretary and First Administrative Assistant. On the national level, he served as Vice Chairman of the COGIC Media Ministry; Assistant to the late Bishop C.D Kinsey, National Men’s Ministry; Secretary of the COGIC National Jurisdictional Extension Committee and a regional Evangelist under Bishop Paige. Bishop Collins served for 15 years as Coordinator of the National Pastors and Elders Institute. He was also a member of COGIC Training Institute; member of the Executive Advisory Board of COGIC National General assembly; member of the Board of Bishop’s Executive Committee; Administrative Assistant to the past Chairman of the Board of Bishops; Secretary of the Board of Bishops’ Conference Committee and Conference Registrar.



Bishop Collins is presently serving as Prelate of the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southeast Georgia. He has served since July 14, 1997. He is the elected First Vice Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Bishops; Coordinator of Executive Services for the COGIC Executives; and a member of the Executive Committee of the General Assembly.

In conclusion, Bishop Collins is a man of foresight and perception. He has a shepherd’s heart and is seasoned and cultivated by the Word of God. Bishop has been called, chosen, committed and challenged to fulfill the plan of God for his life. Simply stated, it is his desire to do the will of the Lord and to live a life that is pleasing in His sight.
